Practical Skills Course
What is this course?
Practical Skills course is a collaborative project created for the intent of filling an educational gap often found in the education of APPs and medical students. Our goal is to create a program that focuses attention on practical skills training that students, and newly christened medical providers, are often required to know when beginning clinical practice . Ultimately, with enhanced and focused training, newer providers can enter their field of practice and perform tasks in a more efficient manner helping with patient throughput while being more financially productive for themselves and their employer.
Who are we?
Practical Skills course is the brain child of our two dedicated program directors, Jenn O'donnell, DNP and Sean Miller, PA-C. Although Jenn is the co-owner of Balanced Wellness and Sean is sole proprietor of Rapid Med Ed, LLC, their collegial relationship has brought them together to co-create this program. With over 15+ years of combined clinical practice, 8+ years of nursing and 9 years of EMS, as well as extensive time spent in academia, Jenn and Sean bring a unique and practical approach to learning. Their combined teaching style fosters a warm, comfortable, easy and fun, learning environment while delivering necessary medical training to class participants.
Course Content
Currently, we are releasing our basic course that will focus attention on EKG and xray interpretation, suturing and abscess management. Each lecture is expected to last approximately 50-60 minutes with hands-on practical skills directed towards suturing and I/D.
An advanced skills course is being planned and will be created at a later date. Stay tuned.

*Individuals, small and large groups are all welcome
Date of Class
Our next scheduled course will be May 28th. We plan on starting at 9am and the course is expected to last 5.5 to 6 hours. All participants will be expected to complete a pre-course survey as well as a post-course survey. Class size is limited to the first 7 students who sign up.
